Iron Removal

Iron is known to leach into water supplies throughout the United States from rock and soil formations. It has been said, probably an exaggeration, that there is hardly a square foot of soil that does not have some iron content. Iron is at least 5% of the earths crust.

A yellow to reddish discoloration can appear in water in concentrations as low as 0.3 ppm (parts per million) and begin the staining and scale process, depending on the pH, as well as taste and odor problems.

1.Ferric Iron Red water iron
2.Ferrous Iron Clear water Iron
Since iron is found in different forms, a removal problem is created as each type of iron may require different techniques and types of equipment. The WF Iron Filter is the only system you need. It will eliminate all Ferric and Ferrous iron from your water to 4 ppm.

How It Works

The WF10 Iron Filter uses a 4 tank system to oxidize and remove the iron from the water, clean up taste and order, and soften your water to make it the best water you could have.

Step 1: Pelican Chlorination System:

The chlorination injection system oxidizes the iron using chlorine injection into the water to not only help remove the iron but disinfect the water. Our unique chlorine injection system features an injection "baffel" that helps to agitate the water while injecting the chlorine for better oxidiation and no need for a large retention tank. The simple to use, self-priming pump, features a flow-control switch allowing it to only run when water is being used.

Step 2: Greensand Plus Iron Removal
Tank two traps the iron with a filter media and gravel under bed then flushes it out with the backwash system. This Improved version of greensand improves its reduction of iron and manganese. While this can be used with potassium permgananate like the greensand filter, if a chlorine feed pump is used ahead of the Greensand-Plus filter, no permanganate is required. The Greensand-Plus filter provides an excellent long-term, relatively low-maintenance solution. GreensandPlus has received the WQA Gold Seal Certification for compliance with NSF/ANSI 61.

Step 3: Carbon Filtration

The PC1000 Premium Whole House Water Filter utilizes a multi stage filtration process to filter the water going into you home. The PC1000 uses the highest grade carbons available on the market which were designed /developed to completely remove or significantly reduce chlorine, sediment and/or particulate matter, VOCs, SOC's (synthetic organic chemicals), THMs, atrazine, benzene, pesticides, tastes, odors and hundreds of the potential contaminants and harmful chemicals from the water supply entering your home.

A proprietary blend of high grade granular activated carbon produced from Sri Lankan coconut shells. It has a large surface area, high pore volume and chemical stability. The ability to produce such a high microporous surface area is very limited, not a lot of manufactures can do this. Main application - adsorption of gas/vapour and for the removal of colour and odour of compounds. Specifically MTBE, VOC's, and SOC's. This carbon is NSF Certified and meets or exceeds all food chemical codex, AWWA and ASTM Protocols. NSF Certified Standard 42

A proprietary blend of high grade catalytic abrasive resistant filtering material made of broken and sifted pyrolysed coal. The porous, rough surface and high adsorption surface allow the media to solve special purification problems, such as Tri-Halogene-Methanes. Main Application - removal of organic compounds such as herbicides, pesticides and chlorinated organic substances by adsorption. Increase in capture capacity of pollutants by the filter bed using in-depth filtration for drinking water. This carbon helps reduce or eliminate:

THM's (chlorine by product)
Step 4: Salt-Free Water Softening

The NaturSoft System by Pelican Water Technologies represents the superior alternative with respect to dealing with the symptoms of water hardness without resorting to ion exchange (salt or potassium) based systems. The amount of wasted water and release of salt into the environment has increasingly become unacceptable. When deployed in a system, the NaturSoft media does not require any regular maintenance. NaturSoft media does not participate in any reactions it merely promotes them. Therefore, the material is not sacrificial and it does not get consumed resulting in its exceptional long life.

The system itself represents the utmost in environmentally conscious water softening/conditioning. It does not add chemicals to the source water, nor does it remove the healthful minerals that are naturally occurring in it. The system does not require electricity to operate. Nor does it consume water for the purpose of backwashing or regeneration. It does not require the addition of any chemicals to operate. The water flows through the media vessel in an up-flow direction resulting in no adverse effect on the building’s water pressure.

What makes NaturSoft different from similar technologies?

Unlike other systems on the market, like Filtersorb SP, the NaturSoft systems requires only 3 seconds of contact with the water, while the others require 9 seconds or more. The Pelican NaturSoft is unlike any other system on the market. The NaturSoft is made in the USA and is sold only by Pelican Water Technologies.

Another benefit of going with Pelican is the lifespan of the NaturSoft catalytic granules. NaturSoft catalytic granules have been rigorously tested in the real world, used in the commercial industry, and made to be non-sacrificial, therefore it requires no "rest time", and requires no replacement. Filtersorb and other similar technologies require replacement every 3-5 years at costs of $600-$1,000 and require you not use their systems for 8 hours a day for proper rest! Tired of stained toilets and unsightly house stains? We have the answer to your problem!

We always recommend a full water report for all well systems. Water Tests

If you are on a private (individual) well and do not receive a water bill: The water treated should be free of hydrogen sulfide (sulfur gas / rotten egg smell), oils, and high levels of copper. They will coat the surface of the media on the NaturSoft™ System and will interfere reducing its efficiency. If any iron or manganese is present in the source water, the media will cause it to be oxidized i.e. causing or accentuating staining in the building. If any of these issues exist, you should employ pre-treatment prior to using this system.
